Windows 8.1 Level 1 course provides an overview and introduction to the Microsoft Windows 8.1 operating system (Professional Edition). Students will learn the basic concepts and most commonly used features and functions of Windows 8.1. They will learn the fundamentals of the Windows 8.1 operating system along with how to locate important system information, set up, manage, and remove user accounts, as well as how to navigate and view files on the computer using File Explorer. Students will learn how to manage folders and files, how to personalize the Windows 8.1 environment and examine the methods of updating and protecting a computer. In addition, students will learn how to use Windows 8.1 built-in accessory apps. They will also learn how to share a file or folder with OneDrive’s cloud file storage. This course consists of six lessons, and an Exam Preparation Exercise. The Exam Preparation Exercise is designed to prepare the student for the final exam.
Windows 8.1 Level 2 course is an advanced course and covers details about managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the Microsoft Windows 8.1 operating system (Professional Edition). Students will learn about using the computer safely, maintaining data and their system, as well as managing devices and drivers. They will also learn how to securely share files and folders, manage wireless network connections, use social apps, and remote computing. In addition, students will learn how to ensure the computer is set for optimum performance and ease of use, and how to maintain and troubleshoot Windows 8.1. This course consists of six lessons, and an Exam Preparation Exercise. The Exam Preparation Exercise is designed to prepare the student for the final exam.
Course Prerequisites
Personal Computer Fundamentals for End Users course or Personal Computer Fundamentals for Technical Users, or equivalent knowledge.
Course Notes
Course manual provided for on-going reference. There is a final exam upon completion of the course. Participants who receive 75% or higher on their exam will receive a certificate.
