Course Introduction

Windows 7 Level 1 course provides an overview and introduction to the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system (Professional Edition). Students will learn the basic concepts and most commonly used features and functions of Windows 7. They will learn the fundamentals of the Windows 7 operating system along with how to locate important system information, set up, manage, and remove user accounts, and also examine the Desktop and view files on the computer using Windows Explorer. Students will learn how to manage folders and files, how to personalize the Windows 7 environment and examine the methods of updating and protecting a computer. In addition, students will learn how to use the basic communication and utility programs included with Windows 7. They will also learn how to install a software program, set a default program, configure a program to start automatically and uninstall a program. This course consists of six lessons and an Exam Preparation Exercise. The Exam Preparation Exercise is designed to prepare the student for the final exam.

Windows 7 Level 2 course is an advanced course and covers details about managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system (Professional Edition). Students will learn about managing software and maintaining data, managing devices and drivers, and securely sharing files and folders. They will also learn how to manage network connections and mobile devices, remote computing, collaborating with others, optimizing performance and ease of use, and troubleshoot Windows 7, software programs and network connections. This course consists of six lessons, and an Exam Preparation Exercise. The Exam Preparation Exercise is designed to prepare the student for the final exam.

Course Prerequisites

Personal Computer Fundamentals course, or a general knowledge of computers.

Course Notes

Course manual provided for on-going reference. There is a final exam upon completion of the course. Participants who receive 75% or higher on their exam will receive a certificate.

Lesson 4: Managing Network Connections, Working Offline, Using Windows Remote Desktop

Lesson 5: System Performance, Optimizing Performance, Ease of Access Center

Lesson 6: Managing Hard Disks, Troubleshooting Windows 7 and Software Programs, Troubleshooting Networking

Of interest to:

Those who have knowledge of an earlier version of Windows operating system and wish to upgrade to Windows 7, or who have never used a Windows operating system.
