After suffering a workplace injury, Margaret Samplonius was forced to look for another job. She found herself having to change her career route and because she’d been out of the classroom for over 30 years the idea of going back was quite intimidating.
“My entire experience with the Academy of Learning was so amazing. One of the team, Alda, sat down with me and got to know who I was, my situation and what I hoped to achieve. She helped me choose the right study route for me based on the jobs I could aim for. I decided to pursue the Accounting Clerk Certificate.
“My first week of study was the hardest as I had no confidence in myself. The staff were amazing and the course materials made it easy to learn. My confidence dipped again towards the end of the course, I became nervous and second-guessed whether I could complete it. Luckily, another member of staff, Joanne, gave me constant encouragement and her belief in me saw me through to the end.
“The hard work paid off as I immediately secured a job at an accounting firm. I absolutely love my new job where I continue to learn every day. I couldn’t have done it without all the support I received from the Academy of Learning – thank you so much!”
