- CEO
As a CEO with several years of experience in the education sector, Afzal Mehdi has developed a unique blend of skills and qualifications that make him an exceptional leader. With a Master of Business Administration in Project Management and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from highly respected universities, he brings both technical expertise and business acumen to his role.
Afzal has a range of IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, CCS Candy, internet applications, and customized ERP software for building construction and maintenance. Additionally, his personal skills include good negotiation skills, exemplary communication skills, planning skills, problem-solving skills, and team leadership skills.
In his current role as CEO at the American University of Barbados, Afzal is responsible for overall management of the University’s operations. He has been in this role since August 2016 and continues to demonstrate his ability to lead and manage complex operations and day to day management with a high level of proficiency.
Overall, Afzal Mehdi is a highly skilled CEO with a unique set of qualifications and experience in the education sector. His technical and business expertise, combined with his personal skills, make him an exceptional leader who can guide organizations through complex challenges and deliver positive outcomes.

- Associate Director
Iram has educational qualification of Master of Business Administration (Finance) and Bachelor of Science degrees. She is having more than 18 years of experience in Finance, Academics, Training & Evaluation of programs at state level Universities and Management colleges.
As a lecturer she used to plan and prepare lessons. Developed new topics, courses & teaching materials including online recourses. Exam paper setter of different subjects at various universities. She used to do monitoring, accessing and marking student’s work and maintaining accurate records and monitoring progress.
Setting and overseeing examinations and liaising with awarding bodies to ensure quality standards are met. Representing the college at parent’s evenings, open days and carriers or education conventions. Interviewing potential students and conducting diagnostic assessments as necessary. To design training project capsules at management level and post training follow-ups, evaluation accordingly.
As a Coordinator: Extensively participated in all stages of development and implementation of the MBA program as a new project at the university. Responsible for the coordination activities and teaching seminars of various MBA subjects.

How do I know which diploma or certificate program will best suit me?
We have general information on each of our diploma and certificate programs on the Academy of Learning website, as well as on our individual campus pages. We also have Admissions Representatives at each of our campus locations who will be able to discuss all of the programs Academy of Learning has to offer.
A career college sounds great to me, but how will I afford it?
Our Admissions Representatives and Campus staf can provide you with all the tools and information you need regarding financing. Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify.
Will I be lost in a large class?
Never! Our model ensures that each and every one of our adult learners has the opportunity to engage with a qualified Learning Coach for one-to-one assistance and guidance.
