Course Introduction

This course provides the student with the basic knowledge and techniques to become productive using a computer in the Windows environment. The student learns how to use a personal computer to accomplish many tasks, such as writing a letter, analyzing numeric information, and maintaining an updated list of client information using word processing software, chart and spreadsheet software, and email. In the course, the student works on producing legal documents on computers using word processing software. The formatting and set-up of legal letters, memoranda and legal documents (court and commercial) is covered in depth.

Course Prerequisites

Introduction to Personal Computers, Introduction to the Legal System, and Legal Writing and Communications or equivalent knowledge and experience.

Course Notes

Students enrolled in this course receive text and/or other related resource materials. There is a final exam to evaluate student progress for this course. Participants who receive 70% or higher overall will receive a certificate.
