Heating II Course Introduction
This course covers inspection of vent systems, flues and chimneys as well as fireplaces, other wood heating appliances, steam and electric heating systems. The student applies knowledge of these systems to the role of home inspector. The course emphasizes the inspector’s ability to identify the energy source, type, material, condition, and safety concerns, as well as to inspect the heating equipment. The course prepares the student to inspect the performance of the following types of systems within residential buildings: chimneys and vents; wood heating appliances; steam heating; electric heating. Wall and floor furnaces, space heaters, and gas fireplaces are also explained.

Course Aim
To familiarize the student with procedures involved in performing heating inspection of homes.
Of Interest to
Individuals interested in pursuing a career as home inspectors, in a home inspection firm, starting their own home inspection business, or owning a franchise, and furthering their knowledge of heating inspection.
Course Notes
Students receive resource material for this course. There are three tests to evaluate student progress. Participants who receive 75% or higher overall will receive a certificate.
Method of Delivery
Learning supported by a qualified off-site instructor; students are provided with course content that includes all of the required courseware, and are supported by a live technical instructor during regular business hours. Students have access to an instructor via e-mail outside of regular business hours.
