HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT
The Health Care Assistant Program is designed to provide the knowledge and practical skills training required for an employment-ready trained graduate as a Health Care Assistant / Long Term Care Aide / Resident Care Aide.
With the aging population and the demand for the best quality of life, the healthcare industry is facing a growing shortage of well-trained personnel. Throughout the North American healthcare industry, there is an acute need to increase the size of the workforce, as well as to raise the skill level of that workforce.
The program uses a combination of primarily instructor led lectures, demonstrations, assignments, videos, reviews, examinations, clinical experience, and in-house workshops to prepare the student.
Admission Requirements
Grade 12 diploma or Mature Student status. Mature students must successfully complete an admissions interview and testing for adequate entry-level skills. Good command of the English language and ability to follow instructions. Clear criminal record check. Negative tuberculosis test/and or chest X-Ray and other vaccinations / medical requirements may be requested to reflect industry of facility needs. Good level of health and physical fitness to meet the requirements of the program and prospective employment.
