Student Management Strategies (Teacher Assistant)
This module will cover the elements of a healthy classroom and examine the importance of this environment in terms of student management. Trainees will evaluate why students choose mistaken goals of seeking attention, power, revenge and avoidance-of-failure. It will examine the appropriate intervention strategies to use with students who choose these mistaken goals. It will also cover the importance of helping students to feel capable, connected and contributory. It will discuss ways of how this can prevent students from choosing mistaken goals of behaviour. This module also covers styles of discipline. Students will recognize the difference between discipline and punishment as well as examine cooperative methods for resolving conflicts.
