Ethics and Legalities (Teacher Assistant)
This module will analyze sections of the Constitution Acts that apply to the foundation of education in Canada and the rights of students and employees of the public school systems. It will evaluate court cases put forth by students and employees in relation to the Constitution Acts. Students will have a conceptual understanding of negligence and liability as it pertains to the school system. Trainees will examine legal issues that are pertinent to their role as a teacher assistant. They will analyze their role as a union member. Students will evaluate the current legal state of special education in Canada and the litigation that has occurred. This module will also cover Individualized Education Plans in detail. It will cover the importance of policies put forth by the New Brunswick Department of Education. They will also complete the Policy 701 online test that is mandatory for employment within the education field.
